ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Jonnie

My background has been in sport, through my international career as a Canoe Sprint Olympian, study in Human Performance & Biomechanics and most recently as Head of Performance at the Scottish Canoe Association. 

In 2023 I decided to follow my passion for working with wood and founded Field and Thorn Woodcraft Co. Following in the steps of my Great Grandfather and and Great Uncle, I'm now using some of their tools to craft wood objects that will also stand the test of time.

I've always had a passion for making things from wood and have slowly been honing my skills through more and more ambitious projects. I get huge satisfaction out of the process of creating something new and beautiful from an un-promising looking stack of rough timber.

Wooden objects bring a tactile and sensory experience that engages us on a primal level. If you share my feeling and would like to experience that quality in your home and in your daily life then you've come to the right place.

I'm aiming to supply people with crafted wooden objects that are made from sustainable timber sources and bring beauty and warmth to my customers. Whether this is through our stock of designed items or through a bespoke commission, that is up to you.
